Introduction

The Audit Seminar for African Countries served as an important platform for the exchanges between the National Audit Office of China (CNAO) and SAIs of Africa. It provided a sustainable and important forum for the cooperation among SAIs of China and African countries. The Audit Seminar has been one of the practices and measures to implement the principles of China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and promote the cooperation and exchanges between China and African countries.

 

CNAO and the African SAIs attached great importance to this mechanism. By the end of 2011, 4 seminars had been hosted by the CNAO, which witnessed the participation of 135 person-time by 119 representatives of SAIs from 40 English or French speaking countries of Africa, among whom there are 60 auditors at the rank of vice minister or above. The seminar conducted last year in Nanjing was the fourth one, it scheduled for lectures on various topics, including “National Audit and National Governance”, “Latest Developments in Government Auditing in China”, “China’s National Auditing Standards” and “IT Audit”. In addition, the Audit Seminar invited Nanjing Audit University, Jiangsu Provincial Audit Office and Nanjing Resident Office of CNAO to exchange views on topics such as audit practices, IT audits, performance audits, real time audits of large-scale investment projects, and audit trainings.
