Mr. Hu Dahua, Director General of CNAO and Special Representative of Mr. Liu Jiayi, Auditor General of China and Chairman of INTOSAI’s Governing Board, attended as observer the IXth EUROSAI Congress, which was held in the Hague, the Netherlands, from 16 to 19 June 2014.
The congress brought together the heads of nearly 50 SAIs of EUROSAI and obervers and guests from China, IDI, IJGA, CBC, FAC of INTOSAI, etc with about 200 participants. The EUROSAI presidency was transferred from Portugal to the Netherlands and Saskia J. Stuiveling of Dutch Court of Audit became the President of EUROSAI for the period 2014-2017. Turkey was confirmed as the host of EUROSAI Congress in 2017.
During the EUROSAI, Mr. Hu Dahua took part in the plennary sessions, working sessions and seminars centering around various topics like Innovation and Leadership, and auditing the financial crisis, etc. Mr. Hu also presented the letter of congraduations signed by Mr. Liu Jiayi, to Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins of the Tribunal de Contas in Portugal as the president of EUROSAI from 2011-2014.
The IXth EUROSAI Congress took Innovation as its central theme, and passed the Conclusions and Recommendations of the congress in June 19 which states that “SAIs do not seek innovation for its own sake, but rather as an indispensable means of ensuring that their added value is mainained in the long term. In this, we build on the EUROSAI values to embed and enhance the good governance of government and its affiliated institutions. All SAIs are involved in a constant quest to improve themselves and find the most effective working methods and audit techniques.”
