Annual National Audit Conference Held in Beijing

The Annual National Audit Conference was convened in Beijing on 27th to 28th December 2013. Over 200 people participated in this conference, including representatives from local audit offices, all the departments, resident and dispatched audit offices of the National Audit Office of P. R. China (CNAO), and engaged auditors.

Mr. LIU Jiayi, Auditor General of CNAO, delivered the work report. Before his work report, Dr. DONG Dasheng, Deputy Auditor General of CNAO, conveyed the important instructions by Prime Minister Li Keqiang when he listened to the work reports of CNAO earlier.

Mr. LIU made a comprehensive review and summary in his work report on the auditing work in 2013. “ From January to November in 2013, over 110,000 units had been audited in China, the increased revenues and reduced expenditures, recovered losses and saved investment were up to RMB 260 billion, clues were transferred in over 1,400 cases, and over 2,600 sound rules and regulations had been established.”

With regard to general requirements on the auditing work in 2014, Liu Jiayi put forward in his report that audit institutions should focus on real-time audit over the implementation of macro-control measures adopted by the central government so as to carry out central policies smoothly, advance the development of performance audit and accountability audit, reinforce the supervision and balance of power operation, enhance the exposure of potential risks in the operation of socio-economy to safeguard national economic security, and further strengthen the examination on large economic crimes and corruption cases to promote anti-corruption and build a clean government.

The Conference also appraised 26 outstanding audit projects, commended 51 audit assignments of 2013, which carried out by CNAO with its resident agencies, and local audit offices.
