Mr. Nicolae Vacaroiu, President of Curtea de Conturi of Romania, visited the CNAO from May 13 to 19.

On 14 May, Mr. Liu Jiayi, Auditor General of CNAO met with Mr. Vacaroiu. The two SAIs renewed the cooperation agreement between the National Audit Office of the People’s Republic of China and Curtea de Conturi a României.

Mr. Liu Jiayi extended a warm welcome to Mr. Vacaroiu. He said, the current global situation urges countries to explore new approaches to good governance. By reducing losses and waste and preventing corruption, supreme audit institutions can contribute to countries’ economic and social development, and make the national public resources better allocated and more effectively used. Currently, the CNAO has conducted a variety of audit practices to explore how national audit can act as the “immune system” in maintaining sound economic and social development, Mr. Liu said. The CNAO is willing to promote bilateral exchanges with Curtea de Conturi of Romania, and to learn from and inspire each other, he added.

Mr. Vacaroiu thanked Mr. Liu for the warm reception. He said his visit to CNAO aimed at promoting the further development of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two SAIs. The cooperation between the two SAIs enjoys a solid foundation, and Mr. Vacaroiu expected that the two sides further enhance cooperation through exchange of visits, personnel training and experience sharing.

During Mr. Vacaroiu’s stay in Beijing, Mr. Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met with the delegation. Mr. Vacaroiu also visited Hangzhou and Guangzhou, met with the Governors of Zhejiang and Guangdong Provinces, and held seminars with Zhejiang Provincial Audit Office, Guangdong Provincial Office and CNAO’s Guangzhou Resident Office.
