Chief Accountability Auditor Mr. Zhang Tong addresses UN/INTOSAI Symposium, visits SAO of Czech Republic

Mr. Zhang Tong, Director at Vice-ministerial Level of the Central Accountability Office of CNAO, attended the 23rd UN/INTOSAI Symposium held in Vienna, Austria, on 2 to 4 March, 2015, and visited the State Audit Office of the Czech Republic before the Symposium.

Mr. Heinz Fischer, President of Austria, and Mr. Wu Hongbo, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, were both present at the Symposium under the theme of “UN Post-2015 Development Agenda: The Role of SAIs and Means of Implementation for Sustainable Development”.

In his address at the opening of the Symposium, Mr. Zhang Tong elaborated on the “New Normal” of China’s economic growth and the positive role played by Chinese audit institutions in promoting sustainable economic and social development in China. Mr. Zhang also championed the independence and capacity building of SAIs and the improvement of public accounting systems, and recommended the three aspects to be included in the United Nations Post-2015 Development Agenda.

During his visit to the Czech Republic from 26 to 28 February, Mr. Zhang had a work meeting with Ms. Zdeňka Horníková, Vice-President of the State Audit Office of the Czech Republic and other representatives. The two sides highly valued the relations between CNAO and SAO, and both looked forward to opportunities for future cooperation. Representatives from CNAO and SAO shared the basic information about their offices, and had an in-depth discussion on anti-corruption audit and public works audit.
